Misc. Weekend

I saw Ben sitting there like this playing the piano and all I could think was "Shroeder" from Charlie Brown.

I had a great birthday this year. Mike and I went to one of the best concerts I've ever been to at Red Butte. We saw three of my favorite bands and it was 3 1/2 hours of pure fun. Sharon made me a birthday cake but we had no candles, so I had to pretend for the picture. You didn't even notice there were no candles until I said that, did you?

Ben loves getting all of his fishing gear on to go up to the lake to fish.
> Mike taught Ben how to tie flies. It looks to me like a male version of crafting.

Little Preschool Grad

Klarah has had such a wonderful year in preschool. Miss Kindra is such a fantastic teacher and Klarah looked forward to school every time.

"Skid-a-ma-rink-a-dink-a-dink-skid-a-ma-rink-a-do
I LOVE YOU!"

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" At home she had said an explorer, but on stage she said "A doctor". Maybe she'll explore over the globe looking for a cure for some dreaded disease.

The fabulous Miss Kindra

Klarah and one of her BFFs Brynn. I hope these girls stay good friends even though they won't go to kindergarten together.

Klarah and her little diva friend Megan. If you only knew how many tries it took to get these two to stand still long enough for a picture.

San Diego

We finally made it on our first genuine family vacation. We stayed at cheap hotel in Mesquite on the way down but they had the mandatory swimming pool for the kids and even a bowling alley.

Our hotel in San Diego also had a great pool. My kids are absolutely part fish. Klarah really improved her swimming skills on this trip.

Next, on to Lego Land. What a great place for kids Ben and Klarah's age. The kids slept really well that night.

Since my dad had served in the Navy on an aircraft carrier we had to take a tour of the Midway.

We had some of the best burgers ever at Hodad's in Ocean Beach...

And then my little fishies finally got to play in the ocean.

We spent our last full day at Sea World.

Our last night was a little chilly and we went for a walk along the beach. I didn't think there was any way they'd want to go in the water as it was so cold, but they did and they went in fully clothed...and they still wanted ice cream afterwards.

We spent a night at the Stratosphere in Vegas on the way back so we went to the top of the tower. Ben had a hard time even walking out and looking over, but Klarah wanted to go on the ride pictured below.
